I am interested in the historical and epistemological archives of industrialisation and modernity, and the ideas, processes and artefacts of these histories as they resurface in contemporary culture transformed by technology and globalisation. My work explores the ways these histories and praxes produce marginalisation, and resist, silence or accomodate the voices of others.
By working with historical archives, sites, images and ideas, I reference the way their visual languages permeate our day-to-day living and interpersonal interactions.
I have developed a diverse practice that also expresses something about both the obsolescence and lingering ideology of the industrial production/consumption machine in the face of our over-consumption and exploitation of natural resources, and our unsustainable impact on our environment.
I have exhibited site-specific work, sculpture, installation, drawing & photography internationally; in galleries, libraries, archives & other historical sites; as well as contributing to community projects such as the Brooklyn Art Library New York, Visual AIDS New York, and international Paper Girl and A Book About Death events & exhibitions.
